A transfer consists in supplying the inventory of a warehouse with items coming from another warehouse.
It takes place in 3 steps.
Step 1: Transfer request
One warehouse sends a transfer request to a supplying warehouse.
It contains several lines of items to be sent to the warehouse.
A transfer request is an internal purchase request.
Step 2: Shipping
Once the transfer request has been validated, the supplying warehouse fills in the items as they are shipped in the "Shipment" function in order to alert the requesting warehouse and keep the inventory status up to date.
The shipped items then appear on the Transfer request [Shipping] tab.
Step 3: Receipt
The warehouse having issued the transfer request receives the items.
In order to generate the corresponding inventory entries, it enters a receipt in CARL Source as would be done for a purchase request in the [Purchasing] module or receives the items directly from the action menu of the transfer request.
The receipt lines are shown in the Transfer request [Receiving] tab.
Items that can be transferred to a warehouse are inventory managed items for which the supply mode is "Restocking" or "Mixed" for this warehouse; see Item [Procurement].
If the procurement mode is "Restocking" for a given warehouse, a transfer request will be the only way of procuring the item for this warehouse.
