Customization

CARL Source offers very rich customization capabilities.

You can adapt the forms extensively:

Change of the appearance of controls: color, font, size,
Movement, resizing of the controls present on the forms,
Addition of new tabs,
Change of the behavior of controls by attaching event-triggered scripts to them.

The terms used on the screens can be replaced to be consistent with the vocabulary you use; see Customization of names.

You can create and change the entities used by CARL Source and create your own search criteria in the Dictionary.
→ The created elements can then be displayed in the forms.

The home screen of the application and its components can also be configured.

The advanced filter function is used for a search generated according to specific criteria.

Form customization

There are several levels of form customization.

Individual customization

Users having sufficient rights can change forms: change the layout, indicate a default value, make a value required, etc.

These changes, which are made directly from the forms in question, are only visible to the user who made them.

The user must have sufficient rights for this in his/her profile:

"Customizing your home screen," under the heading System/Home screens,
"Individual customization of forms" under the heading System/Custom forms.

The right can be limited to changes of the layout by Setting the "Individual customization level" setting to "Appearance only."

Procedure:

Open the settings menu for the screen to customize and select the action "Enter customization mode."

On-the-fly customization is applied systematically on all custom and non-custom forms.
To allow individual per-user customization, customization groups must be used.

Global customization

Certain changes concern all users: hidden fields, additional displayed information, initialization of certain values as a function of others, etc.
To do this, you create public custom forms that are edited in customization mode. Public forms are applied to all users.

Changes made in the dictionary apply to the entire application and therefore to all users.
Menu changes necessarily go through a customization group; see below.

Customization according to user group

To adapt the screens to the daily needs of the various user positions, you can break the same form down into several custom forms.
For example, some information will be hidden on the Asset sheet of users who do not need it, while others will have additional information.

To do this, you create a customization group for each set of users and you create as many custom forms as necessary, which will be assigned to the various groups.

Business context customization

In the application, a number of standard context customizations can be used to define a specific business context.
This tailoring is based mainly on the customization of forms, customization groups, business vocabularies, user profile tailoring and a few generic settings.
