CARL Source
Exporting data
Ergonomics > Exporting data

In any form CARL Source offers you the possibility of exporting listed data to an Excel, CSV, or text file.

The data is displayed in a new browser window and you can save it where you wish; see Browser configuration.

All the known information (displayed or not) on each line will be available in table format for performing the operations of your choosing.

Standard exports

Procedure:

  1. Selecting lines to be exported:
  1. On the action menu of the list to be exported , select the [Export data] action
→ The application displays a dialogue box.
  1. Select the type of file:
  1. For CSV or raw text: You can check the "Include currencies and units" box, so that numbers are exported with or without the currency (for amounts) or unit (for quantities).
  1. Click on the "OK" button.
→ The application opens a new browser window. You can then save the displayed file in the folder of your choice.

Columns exported

All the columns of the displayed list are exported as default.
Data to be exported can be added to the dictionary. On the [Attributes] tab of the object, check (or uncheck) the boxes in the "Export" area."

You can also export data from a report; see Reports and printing.

Limit on number of lines exported

On lists with a limited number of lines, to avoid running lengthy exports CARL Source is configured to:

  1. Display a warning,
  2. Forbid exporting,

beyond a certain number of lines.
These numbers are indicated (and can be changed by the administrator) in the System configuration:

Lists without a limit on the number of lines can be exported without restriction.

Asynchronous exports

Excel, CSV and plain text exports (when large volumes of data are involved, for example) can be performed asynchronously in order to avoid blocking users.

exports in XML format cannot be performed asynchronously.

The default threshold (expressed as a number of lines to export) beyond which the export mode changes from synchronous to asynchronous is 10,000 lines: 10,000 lines.
You can change this threshold in the [System] module, [System configuration] function, System tab, CARL Source folder, HMI section, setting " asyncExportThreshold."

If you would like all exports to be preferentially asynchronous, regardless of the number of lines to export, set the setting "asyncExportThreshold" to 0.
If the user exports a list (asynchronous export), a message is displayed indicating that the export is being processed and that a memo will be sent when it is complete.

Some exports may still be performed synchronously if they do not meet the conditions for asynchronous processing (exporting of favorites, exporting of selected elements from a result list, and so on).
Also, asynchronous exporting is not possible for a number of functions, including the following:

Special Exports/Imports

For certain functions, data can be exported from one database in order to be reimported into another database; see Importing exported files.
They must be exported in the XML format.

In certain cases export options are offered (varying according to the function):

  1. Click on the "OK" button.
    → A file access pop-up is displayed.
  2. Choose "Save" or "Open" to access the product file.
