This form contains the characteristics templates that will generate characteristics specific to the application's entities, used to supplement the name of Assets and items, see Characteristic.
To handle the list, see Manage characteristics templates.
For rules on how to use the fields, see Detail form.
Identification of the characteristic
- Code: Characteristic template identifier.
- Name: Characteristic template name.
- Topic: Grouping of characteristics templates on the same topic.
Types of characteristic values
- Domain: Type of values that a characteristic can assume; see Domain.
- No. of characters: Maximum number of characters, to be specified for text characteristics.
- Historized: Indicates whether or not changes to the value of this characteristic on an entity are logged.
- Precision: Number of digits before the decimal (numbers only).

Value field of the characteristic
You can specify the unit:
- Unit: Primarily for number characteristics, such as watts, degrees Celsius, etc.
Or ask the user to select the value from a predefined list:
- standard, for example: "Quality index".
- lists configured according to your needs, such as "brand name," "material," etc.
In this case the domain of the characteristic must be "Name."
The user shall select the value from a drop-down list.
- Linked entity/Selection list: To be selected from the selection lists included in the application.
Example:
For example, if the final characteristic is the purchaser of the Asset, you choose the "Choice of active actors (DET/SEL) [ACTIVEACTORS]" actors list. In this case the entity will be "actor."
In this case the domain must be "Code". The user will select the value from a list form, which may have a [Search] tab.
Property on instantiated characteristic
You can specify the default value for this property when creating the characteristic on an entity:
- Important: this allows the characteristic to be distinguished as default, and also to make it appear in the corresponding Widget (right banner) if available in the function.
- Group: allows you to initialize a default group for the characteristic, which can be adjusted on each characteristic of an entity, if needed. This group name comes from a values list that can be changed and extended (GROUPINGCHARACT).
Usage help
- Help: Text for value assignment help that will be displayed when the user fills in the value of the characteristic.
