The [Characteristics] tab gives special indications about an Asset, Structure point, Item , or Contract.
A certain number of characteristics is defined for the application as a whole in the [System] module.
Next, for each component you can assign a set of characteristics that you feel are useful. For these, you can change the value, and the group to which it belongs and mark it as Important.
The name of the tab can be different if an equipment type is entered for the equipment and this type has a configuration that overrides the tab name.
For all items of equipment with an equipment type, characteristics can be added automatically when the type is entered; provided that an equipment type configuration is associated with the type for the equipment being issued.
Entering a template with default characteristics may call for characteristics to be added/changed.
The characteristic values for items of equipment are not overwritten by the default characteristic overwriting with an empty value from an equipment type configuration or a template to be applied.
You may use different characteristics, for instance, to define two different location points.
For example:
- You indicate the surface for one,
- For the other, the ceiling height or last revision date, depending on the characteristic of interest to you.
This only implies that the administrator will have created in the [System] module the "Surface", "Ceiling height" and "Last revision date" characteristics templates.

Filtering the list of characteristics
The characteristics are grouped by topic and/or group, allowing you to filter the characteristics to be displayed when there are a very large number of them.
Only the topic and/or the group you are interested in can be displayed by selecting the value from the appropriate list. The filter is automatically applied after a value is chosen from one of the 2 lists.
List of characteristics
- Code and description: Those of the characteristic template. Cannot be changed.
- Theme: Topic to which the characteristic belongs. Cannot be changed.
- Group: Group to which the entity's characteristic belongs.
- Value: Value of the characteristic only for the open element. The value must be of the type defined for the domain (Code, Amount, Date, etc.) of the characteristic.
For example, for a characteristic with a domain of "Amount," the value must be a number.
- Copy (template only): Indicates if the characteristic and its value are to be copied to the elements when the user launches the "Copy characteristics" action from an equipment item attached to this template.
- Required (template only): Indicates that the entry of a value is required for this characteristic on the points or Assets characterized by this template.
- Important: Indicates a high priority for this characteristic. Only the important characteristics are present in the Characteristics Widget in the right-hand pane.
- History: A visible icon in the characteristic line means that the characteristic is of the history type. Clicking on the icon opens a window for quick access to past values.
Viewing the history
Some characteristics have a history. Each change in value is therefore visible. However, this data is for information purposes only and is not considered to be audit or safety monitoring information regarding changes.
Logged values can be changed and/or deleted at any time. No consistency of values is checked.
Quick history consultation
When you click on the History icon in a characteristic line, a pop-up window appears listing all past changes for this characteristic. This is for change tracking information purposes only:
- Change date: Date the new value was saved (also on creation).
- Value entered: New saved value.
- By: Logged-in user who saved the new value.
Viewing the characteristics history
The table action "Characteristics history details" from the list of characteristics provides a vies of the past changes to sets of characteristics.
- Code and description: Those of the characteristic. Cannot be changed.
- Change date: Date the new value was saved
- Initial value: Value replaced by the new entry
- Value entered: New saved value
- By: Logged-in user who saved the new value.
The data in this list can be changed if necessary (except the characteristic). A history line can also be deleted if necessary (for example, an entry error that makes no sense in the change in the characteristic value).
