Equipment > > Specific equipment

A specific asset is asset equipment whose equipment type is associated with a group of equipment types defined by a setting as "specific", and which is to be differentiated from other equipment.

This asset type is also distinguished in the application by the application of associated and tailored work processes. These processes are potentially different in appearance, with the possibility of customizing them.

There can be up to 2 groups of specific assets.

This option makes it easy to differentiate between 2 groups of assets that may look different, with different dedicated work processes, in addition to the rest of the standard assets.

The processes and features implied by this specific asset concept are:

This mechanism is used in the standard configuration of the Transport business context to define FIXED and ROLLING assets, differentiated from other assets, with the customization of related processes and specific menu entries tailored accordingly.

Configuration

To configure a specific set of asset equipment types, first enter one or two groups of equipment types in the module settings in the equipment section:

For the custom forms of the Transport business context offered as standard, FIXED specific assets have been associated with Group 1 and so-called ROLLING specific assets with Group 2.

When a group of equipment types is defined for assets, the profile rights of assets features and related work processes can be changed, and the appearance of dedicated creation menus can be defined. But also prohibit the creation of assets or Work requests and Work orders on non-specific assets.

The rights involved for each of the 4 features affected are:

Application behavior

In one of the entities affected, if the detail displayed is standard and the asset or equipment type field is filled in by an element from specific group 1 or 2 assets, the system prompts you to tailor the detail screen by reloading the form tailored to the specific asset in question.

When creating, via a specific menu, or accessing the details of an asset specific to one of the defined groups, a work request, a work order, a work report associated with a specific asset, the application displays:

  1. The custom form for this group of specific assets if any.
  2. If not, use the entity's custom form (if any) changing the "asset" IZ or the "equipment type" field, which is now required and filtered on Group elements
  3. Alternatively, use the standard form changing the "asset" IZ or the "equipment type" field, which is now required and filtered on Group elements

Custom forms to manage specific assets are not required. As default, the application will display the standard form, dynamically changed in the Equipment type or asset type, if necessary.

To customize a specific form for one of the features associated with specific assets, a menu entry with the reference to Group 1 or Group 2 is available in the custom form configuration for the "Form" field.

The name of the form displayed for entities related to specific assets is dynamically tailored and stipulates the group concept with the name of the related equipment type grouping.
