Taking inventory involves updating the quantities in inventory in the application with the quantities actually present in the warehouses.
You can enter it directly in CARL Source or first do it on paper (see Paper inventory).
You can also enter an inventory movement from the item sheet; see Item [Storage details].
Prerequisites
- To have created the items,
- To have created the warehouses and possibly their locations.
Procedure
- In the [Inventory] module, select the [Inventory] function].
→ The inventory form is displayed; see Taking inventory [General].
- Fill in:
- The information of your inventory taking: Date, Cost center, technician, comment ...
- The search criteria of the items to be inventoried: family, warehouse, etc.
- Then click on the [Search] button.
→ The list of items corresponding to your search criteria is displayed. The information and criteria can no longer be changed.
- Select the items one after the other and fill in the noted quantity.
Checking the " Init quantity" box will initialize the quantity recorded with the theoretical quantity.
The recorded quantity is to be filled in even if it is identical to the theoretical quantity; in this way, the inventory is tracked for the item.
You can also:
- Change the warehouse or location, which results in:
- a negative movement in the source warehouse or location,
- and a positive movement in the destination warehouse or location.
- Enter or change the name of the batch in the "Name" field,
- Select an expiry date for the item.
- Enter a comment on the movement by clicking on the
icon.
- You can add lines by clicking on the add icon

→ A line is added in creation mode. The item and warehouse must be filled in.
- You can delete the checked lines by clicking on the delete icon
.
→ The selected lines are deleted.
- Confirm your entry by clicking on the confirm icon
.
→ The entered movements are recorded, the inventory is updated, and the form is closed.
