Indicator

An indicator is a number calculated from CARL Source data that provides information on:

the status of the equipment, inventory,
the workload to be performed,
efficiency, costs,
And so on.

CARL Source is delivered with a certain number of standard indicators, plus you can create as many as you wish.

Two types of indicators: Filter and Query

An indicator resulting from a sum or an average or involving complex criteria will be created in the form of a query; see Query indicator. These types of indicators are delivered as standard and cannot be created from within the application.

However, an indicator corresponding to a number of elements filtered according to the criteria in the search form is created directly from the search screen; see Filter indicator.
The filter indicator has the advantage of offering a direct link to the list of elements that it lists.

Using indicators: Dashboard and Customization

You can incorporate an indicator into:

A dashboard, possibly incorporated into a home screen; see Dashboard,
A screen of dedicated indicators accessible from the form in question; see Screen indicators: Customizing,
A detail form; see Creating an alerter: Example.

Settings

In order for the result of an indicator to be context sensitive, it may have the following settings:

The current date,
The connected user,
The entity of your choosing. For example, "number of work orders in progress and upcoming for the selected Asset ."
In this case, the indicator can only be used if it is associated with the entity's details form, see Screen Indicators: Customizing.

Exchanging indicators

You can export a set of indicators coming from one instance of CARL Source and import them into another.
This can be useful for exchanging indicators between the production database and the example database, or any other database.

The standard indicators for monetary information are only used in a single-currency environment.
