Changing the location of an item means moving all or part of its stock from one location to another within the same warehouse.
To globally change the location of inventory, you can use the Change locations action.
For an inventory transfer from one warehouse to another, the procedure to be applied is a transfer request.
Declaring a change of location
- In the item sheet, on the [Details of storage] tab, check the line corresponding to the batch to be moved.
- On the actions menu
of the batch list, select "Change location."
→ A pop-up is displayed.
- Fill in the inventory movement information, including: "destination location and "quantity to move," then click on the "Confirm" button.
→ The change of location is taken into account. Two inventory movements are generated: one positive at the new location and one negative at the old location.
- Only lines for which the quantity is non-zero may be selected.
- The "Delete link to original location" check box allows you to indicate that the original location is no longer valid for the item.
Consolidate
- In the item sheet, on the [Details of storage] tab, check the line corresponding to the batch to be moved.
- On the action menu , select "Consolidation."
→ A pop-up is displayed.
- Enter the destination location, then click on the "Confirm" button.
→ The changes of location are taken into account.
The number of inventory movements depends on the number of lines checked: Two inventory movements (one positive, on the destination location, the other negative, on the original location) are generated for each line checked.
Example: If you wish to move the quantity on three lines, six inventory movements will be generated.
- Only lines for which the quantity is non-zero may be selected.
- The action can be carried out only within a single warehouse (for items managed by batch, the action must apply to an identical batch).
- The destination location must be unique and active. It must be different from the original locations.
- The quantity moved is calculated automatically, and corresponds to the total quantities in inventory for the selected lines.
- The original locations are not stored.
