CARL Source
Access to data
System > Access to data

Use of this feature requires the purchase of additional rights.

Learn more about the “Multi-organization and business data partitioning (Private Data)” option.

Since rights restriction not only refers to functions but data as well, CARL Source allows you to limit access to certain data according to groups of users.

This function also makes it possible to define the default values of a certain number of fields for a group of users, thus avoiding repetitive entries when a value is almost always constant.

The principle is as follows:

  1. For each function where this is necessary, you define which attribute is used as the restriction criterion; see Data access criteria. A default value may be assigned to this attribute.

  2. You then create a data access group that corresponds to possible actions (View, Create, Delete, Change) for a set of values for these criteria.

  3. Lastly, you assign this group to users who must only access a portion of the data for reading and/or writing; see User [General].
You can also define rights per organization, see Organization group.

Example

You wish to create a group of users with restricted work order rights:

  1. Create the following access restriction criteria:
    • [Work order types] function, the "Code" criterion.
    • [WR management] function, the "workPriority" criterion (Priority).

  2. Create the CORRECTIVE group, Corrective and not priority:
    • [Work order types] function:
      • Assign the default value “REPAIR” for this criterion,
      • Uncheck the “Access to all values” box,
      • Delete work order types other than REPAIRand ADJUSTMENT.

    • [WR management] function:
      • Uncheck the “Access to all values” box
      • Select all priorities -> they are accessible for viewing by default,
      • Check the “View” box for low priorities only.

  3. Assign the CORRECTIVE group to the users for whom this restriction applies.
