There are several types of operations:

- "Diagnostic" type operations: the technician completes the operation and makes an assessment. "Diagnostic" operations are defined in CARL Source by the "Diagnostic" category.
- Operations of the "measurement reading" type: the technician selects a reading point from the list of available reading points and enters the reading value. “Measurement reading” operations are defined in CARL Source by the “Measurement” category.
(The "Reading" category is available only if the CARL Touch module is installed on your system.)
- "Asset movement" operations: there are three possible movements: installation, removal, or replacement. "Asset movement" operations are defined in CARL Source by the "Asset movement" category.
- "Choice" type operations: the technician completes the operation and selects a value from the proposed list. "Select" operations are defined in CARL Source by the "Select" category.
