Accounts > Budget > Budget allocations

An allowance is an amount that you allocate in anticipation of purchases that will be allocated to the budget.

An allowance gives you the option of checking to ensure that the budget expenses do not exceed the amount allocated for the fiscal year (see Accounts: Controls). To do this, you assign the "Block if exceeded" control level to the budget."

The [Budget allowances] function allows you to enter and display all allowances for the active budgets. You can enter the allowances of a given budget on the dedicated sub-tab; see Budget [General] [Allowances].

Hierarchical organization

If a budget is composed of several other budgets, you can choose to allocate allowances solely to the parent budget. In this case the expense control on the child budgets will be done in relation to the allowances of this budget.

Allowance cancellation or transfer

If an allowance is to be cancelled or transferred from one budget to another, you can make an allowance with a negative amount, giving the reason for the amount in the comment.
