This screen contains a list of linked documents accessible from the current entity.
Filter criteria
These are intended to reduce the list of displayed documents if it is too long; see Displaying linked documents.
Document attributes
Information on the document is intended to specify:
- Its content: type, name, author,
- Its validity: Validity, publication, and version dates.
- Document: Functional identifier of the document. Unique in the application.
- Name: Name of the document. Provides the theme of the attachment.
- Version: Version/revision no. of the document for information purposes, not checked by the application.
- Type *: The type to which the document belongs, from among those defined for the application, e.g. drawing, invoice. The type determines:
- The physical storage location if the attachment is a "Stored File,"
- Possibly a maximum authorized file size; see Document types.
- Author: Author of the attached document; free text.
- Type **: Identifies the document in order to add it to a form with the customization functions.
- Modified: Date when the information about the attached document was last updated.
- File/URL: Name of the file or the address. Hypertext link for opening or saving the attachment, depending on the browser being used.
- Valid from... On: Dates between which the document is applicable.
The document is valid if:
- the validity start date comes before the current date or is not filled in,
- and the validity end date comes after the current date or is not filled in.
- Comment: Free text about the document. This may provide the essence of the attachment contents without it having to be opened.
- Modification forbidden: If you have sufficient rights, check this box to forbid modification or deletion of this document.
- Attached on: Creation date of the link between the element and document (created or emanating from the library)
- Attached by: Login of the user who added the document to the list.
- From the library: This box on the list is checked if the document is from the library and therefore can only be changed from the library. In this case, the "Add to library" button is not present.
* The document type can be changed to editing. In this case, the associated file will be moved to the correct physical storage location.
** Select "Photo" if the document is an image to be displayed in the detail form of the equipment, item, or work order.
Attachment

Type of attachment: see Creating a linked document.
- Stored file: File stored directly by CARL Source.
You specify its current location and then click on "Load."
- File address: File location in a folder accessible to everyone in the format "\\<server_name>\<path>\<file> .
- Web URL: WEB address in the format "http://*.html," or "www.*.com," etc.

Path: Initial location of the file of the attachment.
- "Browse..." button : Only if the attachment is of the "Stored file" or "File address" type.
- "Send" button: Only if the attachment is of the "Stored file" type.
- File/URL: Name of the file or the address deduced from CARL Source according to the path. Hypertext link for opening or saving the attachment, depending on the browser being used.
With the Firefox® browser, the path must be entered for a "file address" attachment.
This is a protection feature of the browser, which forbids the sending of information over the user's workstation
Adding to the library
Clicking on the "Add to library" button transfers the document to the library.
It remains linked to the entity but can be shared by other entities and only modified via the library.
