CARL Source
Read-only mode
System > Supervision of the user license > Read-only mode

The read-only mode allows access for consultation only to all functions that can normally be used in creation/modification mode.

However, an exception exists for the "License Administrator," who retains creation/modification rights to the [System] module at all times, so as to be able to quickly carry out actions relating to users' access rights and actions.

Users are informed by means of a message displayed in the application header that read-only mode has been activated.
The exact cause of the read-only mode being enabled can be determined by clicking on the text of this message.

Read-only mode may be applied in various situations:

  1. Application to all users
    • License expired: see Expiration and Warning.
    • License not loaded in CARL Source
    • License obsolete - i.e. generated for a version from previous version of CARL Source.
    • Number of active UNs in the database exceeds the number of authorized UNs
  1. Application to "License Administrator" only
    • Number of authorized CSs reached

For all of the aforementioned cases, activation of read-only mode is indicated by the appearance of an "Application in read-only mode" message in the application panel.
Clicking on this message will result in a pop-up window being displayed with information on the reasons for the blockage.

Example:
« The number of active named users authorized by the license has been reached. The application is in read-only mode. »
