In order to significantly reduce initial synchronization times, database templates can be prepared in advance.
These databases contain reference data (assets and so forth) and each is associated with a category.
A category corresponds to a combination of Language, Profile, Organization group and Restricted access group.
Belonging to the same category: therefore implies having the same language, being attached to the same profile and being a part of the same organization group and restricted access group.
Prerequisites
- The "Name of the server handling CARL Touch category management" setting must be stored in the [System configuration].
- The value of the "Maximum number of categories" setting must be greater than or equal to 1.
- The value of the "Minimum number of mobile users sharing the same category" setting must be lower than the total number of users in a given category.
Category management
Accessing the list of categories
- Place the cursor in the "CARL Touch" module and select [Categories] from the "Configuration" section.
→ The list of categories is displayed.
Calculating categories
Procedure
- In the available actions menu
, select [Recalculate categories].
→ As the processing to completely rebuild the database templates for each category can be lengthy, confirmation is mandatory.
- Once processing is complete, the list of categories is displayed.
- The lines generated automatically depend on the "Maximum number of categories" and "Minimum number of mobile users sharing the same category" settings in the [System configuration].
- Changing or deleting a category is not allowed.
