Common documents are to be stored in the document library to avoid multiple creations of a document to be attached to several elements.
From the list of linked documents, you can:
- Add a document coming from the library. In this way you do not create a duplicate if the document already exists.
- Add the document you have just created to the library so that other CARL Source users can use it.
Adding a document coming from the library
- On the list of linked documents, go to the add icon and select [Add a document from the library]
→ The list of documents in the library is opened.
- Select the document to be added to the list.
→ The application closes the library and adds the selected document to the list. It cannot be changed on this list; it can be changed from the library if you have sufficient rights; see Library.
Adding a document to the library
This action is only possible if you have the right to manage the library.
The list of documents linked to an element contains a linked document that you feel can be used for other elements. For example, a warranty that covers several Assets.
- Select the element,
- At the bottom of the screen, click on the "Add to library" button.
→ The application adds the document to the library. It can no longer be changed on this list; it can be changed from the library, with sufficient rights. It will only be saved once, even if it is linked to several elements.
When creating by copying, only documents in the library are copied.
