Principles of technician assignment

Technician assignment works according to two possible modes:

Mode A: Technicians of a resource

  1. Select a resource, then click on "See possible technicians.
→ The technicians offered are those who can be assigned to the resource.

  2. Check the technician or technicians to be assigned and click on "Assign/Unassign technician.
→ The technicians are assigned to the resource and resource lines are created, if there are several technicians. The workload is distributed evenly among the various technicians.

For example:

Mode B: Work orders of a technician

Work orders already assigned

This operation is useful if a technician is unexpectedly absent. You will delete the technician's assignments and then assign them to another technician.

  1. Check the technician, then click on "See assigned work orders.
→ Only resources where the technician appears will be displayed.

  2. uncheck the resource lines, then click on Assign/Unassign technician.
→ The technician is no longer assigned to the resources. The team, discipline, and workload information is kept.
If you have checked several technicians, you will see all the resources in which those technicians appear (union).

Work orders to be assigned

You now wish to put a technician on resources.

  1. Check the technician, then click on "See work orders to be assigned.
→ The resources corresponding to the technician's profile (team and discipline, if specified) are displayed.

  2. Check the resource lines, then click on "Assign/Unassign technician.
→ The technician becomes that of the resource.
If you have checked several technicians, you will only see the resources to which every checked technician can be assigned (intersection).

Once this mode of operation is in use, you can press the resource list "Refresh" button to display the list of resources based on search criteria.
